BEAUTIFULLY HANDCRAFTED WINDOWS & DOORS

In the barn this week, we’re completing a traditional 8 over 8 Box Sash Window with lead weights, pulleys, and sparkling new brass catches.

This beautiful sash window will replace an existing window that has been in situ for over 100 years but is now sadly beyond repair.

As it’s a Listed Building, we have handmade a like for like replacement with the exact same moulding and attention to detail that the original window displays.

Standing at over 2m tall, it is housed in the magnificent family dining room and overlooks the grand sweeping driveway of this glorious Herefordshire home.

With care and maintenance, we envisage this window will last every bit as long as the original window - our timber windows and doors are all fully finished in microporous water-based paints that, (subject to location) only need to be repainted every 5-7 years. Round Window

It’s always wonderful when existing clients return to us for help with the next phase of their renovation and this lovely round window is the last piece of the jigsaw for this stunning manor house in Herefordshire which is leaving the barn today!

Measuring 1m in diameter, the window has fixed double glazing with astragal bars and is fully finished in standard white. Due to the height of the installation - this window is a non-opener for safety reasons.

Round windows are a great design solution as they create a focal point away from the traditional straight lines and rectangles that define most homes. Often referred to as curved, porthole, circular or circle windows they make interesting features in attic conversions, bathroom renovations and barn conversions in gable areas.

Our best seller - A Traditional Ledge and Braced Door

This style of door is very popular and very versatile and looks wonderful left in natural wood or with a painted or a stained finish.

It’s simple and elegant in design and we make lots of these for customers as they suit any style of home.

Fitted with a traditional thumb latch set, this decorative door latch has a thumb-shaped lever. When the lever is pressed down this operates a thumb bar which passes through the door, this lifts the latch bar on the opposite side causing it to open.

• Our blacksmith thumb latches are hammered into shape from mild steel using the traditional manufacturing method of an anvil and fire.

• Thumb latches are usually used in conjunction with a tee hinge on traditional plank doors.
